Pi - Toronto, ON - Figurative Public Sculpture on Waymarking.com

This large sculpture is of a man's head that has been cut into four pieces. The pieces are cut at 90 degree angles with straight lines which are in sharp contrast to the roundness of the outside of the head and the features of the face. The tallest piece measures approximately 4 feet high.

One of the larger pieces of this sculpture consists of a large portion of the face and head, which has been cut horizontally at the brow level, but missing the left eye, left half of the nose and upper left cheek area. The second large piece is the missing left eye, nose, upper cheek and the forehead as well as most of the rest of the head complete with hair.

The features of the man's face are very strong but they show little expression as if he is lost in thought and the fact that his head has been turned into a puzzle has not registered. The bronze is a deep green colour which gives this sculpture a warm complexion.

You can find this sculpture on the north side of Wellington Street West, west of Bay Street, in the Toronto Dominion Complex. The sculpture is on the ground in a very small courtyard just off Wellington Street. You can see it from the street but you will have to turn your head as you would probably not notice it if you were just walking by on the sidewalk.
