No longer the home of Elks Lodge 420, this building still displays B.P.O.E. over the door. Built by the Elks in 1908, first territorial Legislature of Alaska was convened in the building in 1913, and there is an Alaska historical marker near the door.
The marker reads:
Alaska's first legislature met in this building on March 3, 1913. Named President of the Senate was L.V. Ray of Seward, and named Speaker of the House was Earnest B. Collins of Fox.
In recent years the membership of the lodge declined, and in 2006 the building was sold, with the Elks now meeting in the Moose Lodge.
