The parish of Dibley is a very conservative parish full of eccentric characters. When the elderly vicar dies a woman vicar is appointed. This causes a lot of opposition in the village, particularly as the Rev Geraldine Grainger is a very modern woman. Slowly though, the village takes to the new vicar and the vicar takes to the eccentric villagers.
The parish church of St Barnabas is in reality St Mary’s Church Turville. The vicar’s house is opposite the church.
