The residents of a village in the English countryside welcome the billeting of a platoon of British soldiers. It soon becomes apparent that the platoon are actually German troops trying to form a beachhead, supported by local fifth columnists. The villagers are forced to go on the attack to defeat the Germans, whilst an attempt is made to alert the outside world. The message of the film is quite stark : unless you are vigilant you too could have to fight the Germans in your own rural idyll.

The selected clips show the narrator at the start of the film standing in the churchyard and troops patrolling near the church gate. The memorial in the church clip is a film prop.
