As a tribute to nearby Turtle Mountain and Turtle Mountain Provincial Park as well as the "International Turtle Derby", Boissevain built this 5 tons, 28 foot tall statue of Tommy Turtle.
Boissevain ended the Turtle Derby in 2001, but Tommy Turtle continues to warmly greet visitors to the community.
