This well marked border crossing is on US Route 50 between Frederick County, VA and Hampshire County, WV. There are several things that have taken their name from this border crossing. Among them are Border Lane and State Line Subdivision.
Up until 1863 this area would have all been part of Virginia. However, at the start of the Civil War, the state was split on the decision to seceed. Two-thirds of the delegates in the western part of the state voted against secession and the rest is history. More can be found here (
