"The Knights of Columbus Council No. 1186, which is the oldest in the area, meets the first Tuesday (general meeting) and the third Tuesday (executive meeting) of the month, from September to June, at the Club Rooms, 2419 - 54th Avenue S.W. at 7:30 pm. The Council sponsors a breakfast after the 10 am Mass on the second Sunday of every month: September 14, October 12, November 9. The Council also sponsors the Octoberfest and Christmas parties and contributes to many other parish events e.g. the receptions after the special Mass for the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Christmas food hampers, confirmation classes and many other activities. In 2007 Council #1186 as part of its centenary celebrations donated $100,000 to St. Mary’s University College to establish an endowment to enhance the quality of student life and received the Supreme plaque for Knights of Columbus Council of the Year in Alberta/NWT for councils under 100 members.
