Beech Aircraft Corporation built 24 1971 B23 Musketeers for the Canadian Forces with the first ones arriving at CFB Portage la Prairie in 1971. They were designated CT-134 Musketeers. Commonly called Muskrats, they were the primary trainer for Canadian Forces student pilots.
The first batch were replaced 10 years later in 1981 with 24 1982 Beechcraft C23 Sundowners. They were designated as CT-134A Musketeer II.
Most (if not all of the Musketeers) were used at 3CFFTC (3 Canadian Forces Flying Training School), Portage la Prairie and were used to train about 5,000 Canadian military pilot graduates from 1971 to 1992. Quite a few Musketeers are on displays across the country and this one was dedicated here on 14 Oct 1992.
