The original cornerstone for the St. James Episcopal Church was laid 7/25/1867 and the church was consecrated in 1868. The church was burned 12/31/1872 and was rebuilt between 1873 and 1874. The Gothic revival church was designed by architect Gordon William Lloyd. The church building is in good condition and continues to serve its Episcopal congregation.
