The mortars are to be found on the south side of the Tower of London near to the River Thames. This area is available 24/7/365 and is to be found to the east of Traitor's Gate.
A plaque, adjacent to the westerly mortar, reads:
"Spanish Iron Mortar / Of 13-inch calibre. A mid- / 18th century mortar cast in / one with its base, probably / intended for sea service or / coast defence. // XIX-141 // Royal Armouries".
The easterly mortar is of different design (see photos) but the plaque was missing.
