This old railroad depot has served the public for many years but has fallen into disrepair. It must have been a welcome sight for many coming into town; now it has become a canvas for graffiti artists. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990 for its Tudor Revival/Prairie School architecture (#90001300). A decade later it was placed on the Iowa Endangered Building list. The community has suggested restoring the building for use as a Welcome Center, but nothing has apparently been done about it.
