Saltaire is a model village built by Sir Titus Salt for workers at the nearby mill completed in 1853. The congregation first formed in 1857 and met in the dining hall.
The church opened in 1859 and was paid for by Sir Titus Salt himself. The clock is the original one from 1859 and is located at the bottom of the bell tower. New bells were installed in 2003 to replace the original set that had been removed during the 2nd Wold War, however they are not connected to the clock.
The church became a Grade I listed building in 1985.
