The bridge has spanned the Colorado River for over 100 years. The landmark was completed in 1905 and is on the National Register of Historic Places.

“When you think of Yuma, there is the Yuma Territorial Prison guard tower and the Ocean-to-Ocean Bridge,” said Charles Flynn, executive director of the Yuma Crossing National Heritage Area. “It is an important part of our identity.”

For the longest time this was the only crossing of the river for over 1,000 miles.

The bridge was a joint effort between Arizona, California and the Native Americans.

The bridge has been an icon and landmark of Yuma for many years.
