This font is in the baptistry, an area of the church just to the left inside the main south porch entrance of this large and impressive church on a rise to the west of Bakewell town centre. It is C14th in octagonal form and has eight images round it. Unusually itis of a bowl shape with no mounting column, it is set on a two-step circular base and is lead lined. There are eight images around it depicting, from the west, Our Lord in Glory, The Virgin Mary, St.Peter, St.Paul, A Bishop, A Priest, St John the Baptist, and St.John the Evangelist.
