This is really an impressive work of art. Fountain? Sculpture? It doesn't matter, it is wonderful to look at from all angles. Technically it is a sculpture but I did notice that the birds in this park were definitely thinking fountain.
"On the east side of Metro Centre Plaza, between the old Metro Hall building and Roy Thompson Hall, is Bernie Miller's impressive 1992 sculpture, The Poet, The Fever Hospital.
The piece is over 9 metres high and is comprised of bronze, granite, steel and marble, incorporating a fountain / bird bath and a reflecting pool. The piece takes local history into account to form a dual memorial.
The poet in question is Isabella Valancy Crawford, who briefly lived in a house near this site. The fever hospital refers to one of Toronto's first hospitals (York Hospital, 1829-1856), which was also situated nearby."
