Constructed beginning in 1927, the Justin Matthews, Jr. House was one of the early houses in the Edgemont subdivision. The house built for the son of the main developer in the area the house is the only original Edgemont houses not designed by Frank Carmean of the Justin Matthews Company but rather was design by Max F. Meyer, a prominent architect of the era in Little Rock. Meyer was originally from San Antonio which may have influenced the design of the house which is in a Spanish Colonial style. The large stucco and terra cotta house was built the Justin Matthews Company. Fitting with its style the house has a red tile roof. The house appears to be in very good condition and continues to serve as a single family home.
