There is a small natural spring in the cave and a descriptive sign in front. A bear enclosure used to be located next to the cave opening, so it is sometimes referred to as the Bear Cave. Beer was kept in the cave after it was purchased by Shmitmayer Brewing Company in 1871. The cave was part of property donated to the park in 1906.
