The Barrows are accessed by walking past the church tea shop and through a stone stile on to a grassy area. Small cliffs bar access to the mud beach. The dominant rock is red sandstone from which many local houses have been built. The harder limestone is further south and north along the coast. These are the only sea cliffs on Lancashire coastline.

Here is yet another chapel dedicated to St Patrick and some stone graves carved out of the soft rock. The is a display board explaining all.
