Beta Theta Pi house, located at 23 S Congress St, is an imposing brick building fronted with white columns and topped by a statue of the fraternity's symbol, a Dragon. Beta Kappa's arguably most famous Beta is Mike Schmidt, 1971, a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame. Sports is a key part of Beta Kappa life as witnessed by their winning 18 of the last 34 IFC Sports Championships.
Beta Theta Pi was founded in 1839 at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio making amongst the oldest of the college fraternities. Two years later, the Beta Kappa chapter was founded and through the years proudly represented greek life at the university. Unfortunately, in the 1990's and again in 2011 the chapter was suspended for university violations. During the suspension the house is undergoing renovations to ready it for re-population beginning with a Winter 2012 resumption of formal recruitment.
