This depth marker is in two parts. The main section is in the water and as can be seen the water is around 4m deep. The second section is attached to the wall close by. As the river rises, more so in winter with the winter rain the main section dopes become submerged and the depth can then be gauged on the secondary marker.

I can find no additional information, other than this is used by the rivers authority for measuring the water depth
