The trail provides non-motorized access to hikers, bikers, equestrians, and cross-country skiers, although some juristictions restrict horse traffic. The 12 foot wide trail surface varies within the different jurisdictions, from asphalt to hard packed cinder ballast. The County Road 6-3 Trailhead has off-road parking for about 10 cars.
The Wabash Cannonball Trail is among Ohio's longest rail-trails, covering a total of 63 miles and passes through four counties: Fulton, Henry, Lucas, and Williams. The trail is owned by several partners within the four counties.
