Original (belonging to the beginning; FIRST; earliest) Saint James Bell cast in 1854 and rung in the Cathedrals of Nisqually Diocese, Vancouver, Washington Territory. Dedicated August 18, 1985.The FIRST Saint James Cathedral was constructed of logs in 1849. A few years later the cathedral was replaced by a better, though wooden, structure. In 1884, a large cathedral was erected, Gothic in design and built of brick and stone, to replace the wooden structure erected thirty years previously.
