Praying female figure backed by a celtic cross on a dark polished granite surface of a broadened and truncated pyramid. Three medallions on the cross carry representations of Faith, Hope, and Charity.

The monument shows characteristics of the Arts & Crafts Movement which was popular at the end of the 19th century in Chicago. This was compatible with the Prairie School architecture. The Dean brothers, designers of the monument, were considered prairie school architects. (source: Ira Bach "Chicago's Public Sculpture" 1983)
William McKibben Sanger (1844-77) was the brother of Mrs. George Pullman (resting nearby.)
