Le Prince had experimented with producing moving pictures and received a patent on a 16 lens camera that was not very successful. He then moved on to a single lens camera, but was refused an American patent.
After filming a scene on Leeds Bridge he gave an exhibition of his work. He used film made out of paper. As we know there were many subsequent improvements to the manufacture of film. Le Prince also had various disputes in the States over patents especially with his rival Edison.
Louis Le Prince is recognised in the UK and France as producing the first moving film. He is however largely unknown by the general public and Edison usually credited with the invention of moving film.
In 1890 he had visited France and was planning to visit the Sates to give public exhibitions of his work. He boarded a train in France in September 1890 and mysteriously disappeared. There have been a number of theories including suicide or murder but the exact nature of his disappearance is still uncertain.
If you look at the Wikepedia site there is a 2 second sequence of film that was made by coping individual frames from a small portion of the film.
The building overlooks Leeds Bridge which in 1888 was the main crossing point on the River Aire to enter Leeds.
