Small Akdamar Island (Akdamar Adasi), located close to the southern shoreline of the Van lake in Eastern Turkey, is popular touristic destination thanks to the beautiful medieval Armenian church and also thanks to pictoresque surroundings. The stunning Cathedral Church of the Holy Cross (Akdamar Kilesi), which is located in the middle of the island, is one of the most precious examples of early medieval Armenian sacral architecture preserved in Anatolia.
