Actually three terrific musicians are featured in this waymark photo - one is not a statue however. Today's guest is my niece visiting from out of town and enjoying a tour of unusual sites in the western suburbs. (She is an accomplished pianist and singer.)

The Route 66 Welcome Center includes a small museum with interpretive information about Rt. 66 and also about the town of Joliet. The Lincoln Highway, Dixie Highway, and Rt. 66 all passed through the town of Joliet.

Of course Jake Blues, just out from nearby Joliet Prison, was famous for putting together his old band to save the Catholic home where he and brother Elwood were raised. (IMDB (visit link) )
