Adjacent to another cemetery, Wunders (See WMC4YK), this cemetery is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Whereas Wunders is/was a cemetery for poor people, this cemetery has multiple monuments and elaborate mausoleums. It was established in 1860 when this land was still outside the Chicago city limits.

No information could be found concerning the number of graves here...but a good guess might be 3,000.
