Lower Wekiva River Preserve State Park borders approximately 2 miles of the St. Johns River and the lower four miles of the Wekiva River and Black Water Creek. The Preserve consists of 4,636 acres of environmentally signifcant land.
Wood Stork, sandhill crane, and other bird species can be found in the park, along with The Florida black bear, river otter, American alligator, indigo snake and a variety of more common species.
The Sandhill Nature Trail is a self-guided. There are some other more longer trails in the Preserve. You can also paddle through in a kayak or canoe.
Note: Pets must be on a six foot hand held leash and well behaved at all times. They are
NOT permitted in the primitive camping area.
