On the north side of N. W. 50th Street, west of Meridian Avenue, Dolese Youth Park is a large municipal park designed specifically for youth activities. A granite monument at lakeside reads:
"DOLESE YOUTH PARK / Serving the youth of Oklahoma City / This park was made possible through the generosity of the Dolese family and the Kerr Foundation with the assistance of the Dept. of Interior, the City of Oklahoma City and the Youth Park Authority / Park dedicated April 29, 1978." Beneath this is listed the Mayor, City Manager, City Council and Park and City trustees.
As you enter from the south, immediately on your right is a very large fishing lake, which was being well-used at the time of our arrival. Ducks and geese abound, although signs indicate feeding them is prohibited. A sign describes the permit and fishing rules and the limits for various types of fish caught.
On your left are playing fields for baseball and soccer. The park has 8 baseball fields and 6 soccer fields, all lighted. The Optimist Club sponsors these fields.
As you continue north into the park, ahead and on the right is a large 18-hole Disc Golf course, which is level and heavily wooded. There are picnic pavilions and playground areas for family enjoyment also.
An unpaved Walking Trail circles the perimeter of the park, for a distance of about 2.1 miles. This trail can be used for walking, jogging and biking. There are a total of 89 parking spaces available within the park.
