"Le pouce" (the thumb), is an artistic creation by renowned French sculptor César Baldaccini.
Designed in 1965, this sculpture weighs 18 tonnes and is 12-meter high, it is located in La Défense, Paris business district, and also Europe's largest purpose-built business district.
The first building was built in 1958 (Esso tower), and slowly the skyscrapers replaced the old city factories, shanties and farms.
