This time capsule is set inside the base of a Civil War Monument in front of the Will County Courthouse in Joliet, Illinois.

The time capsule's plaque reads:
"BEHIND THIS PLAQUE IS A 16 X 12 X 13 INCH COPPER
BOX WHICH WAS FILLED BY THE WILL COUNTY COMMITTEE
OF THE ILLINOIS SESQUICENTENNIAL CELEBRATION (1968).
THIS IS TO BE OPENED IN ONE HUNDRED YEARS.
BESIDE THE PLAQUE IS THE CORNERSTONE OF WILL COUNTY'S THIRD COURTHOUSE WHICH WAS DISMANTLED
THIS YEAR. THE BRICK OUTLINE ON THIS PLAZA IS
THE EXACT CONTOUR OF THE FORMER STRUCTURE.
