The National Museum of Natural History is part of the University of Lisbon and is specially devoted to scientific research activities and a cultural museum including sections of zoology, anthropology, mineralogy and paleontology.
Its contents, the scientific and cultural forum, is largely the result of research of the museum, and several scientific expeditions beyond grantmaking.
It is a prime location for researchers of all nationalities, with the scientific study of the heritage preserved, allows the development of undergraduate theses, master's and doctorate.
The National Museum of Natural History also produces and hosts permanent and temporary exhibitions, is still home to conferences, debates, promotes training courses and a wide array of events always aiming the dissemination of scientific, cultural and artistic.
Adjacent to the museum there´s a Botanical Garden with 150 years old used by the botanical students.
