Girilambone station lies 666km from Sydney on the Main Western Line in North West NSW. This line which once ran to the town of Bourke, now is closed north of the town of Nyngan. The station officially closed in 1986 and the line closed in 1989.

The station buildings are now ruins and while there were plans to restore the station after closure there is little evidence that this will ever happen.

This is an interesting station to see as visitors are free to wander around the buildings and explore. If visiting watch for snakes!
