Wilbur Chocolate originated in 1884 as a family business. It has been in the present building since 1913. The Candy Americana Museum, in the rear of the store, was opened in 1972. It is a self guided tour featuring antique chocolate making molds and equipment, and china chocolate pots, and a video of the company history. It also features employees making hand-dipped chocolates! The store features all kinds of Wilbur Chocolate, including the famous Wilbur Buds in both Milk and Dark Chocolate. The company was purchased in 1992 by Cargill, but retains its name and famous chocolate. Candy is still made on the upper levels of the building, but the actual factory is not open to the public. The store still gives free samples of Wilbur Buds.
