The roofline of the Charter Oak Historical Club attracts attention from those driving through town. Built in 1891 this unique “second empire” architecture house was originally home to two different doctors and later the town library. In 1986 Dr. Huber’s family deeded the home to the city when it was totally renovated using the same trim colors as found in an old photograph. In the early 90’s it became a museum and the headquarters of the Charter Oak Historical Club. Displays include a parlor, kitchen and bedroom all furnished with period antiques, a reconstructed doctor’s office, and a plethora of books, photos and other community memorabilia. The Charter Oak Historical Headquarters and museum was first opened to the public during their Centennial celebration in 1991.
