Under the umbrella of United Way of Kingsport, AARP, City of Kingsport, First Presbyterian Church, and Tennessee Master Gardeners, the "Harvest of Hope" community garden was established in 2011 as a 501-C3 organization. Per their flyer, it is to be "a place of growing, healing, reflection, laughter - a community collaboration to provide fresh nutritional produce, as well as help the homeless and those living in poverty develop healthy life skills and self esteem." There is a sliding-scale fee for participating in the community garden.
Aerial view in Google Maps shows a house at this location, which was demolished and removed. The garden is in that space.
Within the wire fencing, 25+ plots were observed with a watering hose and small tool shed. The gardens have tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, corn, herbs, marigolds, runner beans, and more.
