The suspension bridge hangs on four steel cables, measuring 227 meters long, 36 meters in height and 1.3 meters wide.
Opened in June 1923 , built following the idea of Vincenzo Scotti Douglas , Count of San Giorgio della Scala, director of the ‘Società Metallurgica Italiana’. Work began in 1920 with the help of about thirty workers, who anchored the cables.
It served as a passage for the workers in the factories located on the opposite side. Without this bridge the workers would have to walk about 6 kilometres to reach the workplace.
This simple suspension bridge, which has helped improve road conditions in the valley, now represents a pole of attraction for the tourists in the Pistoia Mountains.
