Opened October 1, 1998, YVR Storefront Community Police Station serves the Vancouver International Airport (YVR) by providing a link between the general public, including airline passengers from around the world, with the Richmond RCMP.

The Storefront is located between the Domestic Terminal and the International Terminal on Level Three of the airport.

The Station is operated by citizen volunteers, currently, there are 31 volunteers. The volunteers handle approximately 2,000 general inquiries a month, and volunteer 400 hours per month.

The volunteers liaise between the public, 9-1-1 (EComm), and the RCMP when criminal code offenses occur in the airport. Examples of these offenses include thefts, assaults, threats and missing persons. Theft of bags is the most common type of offence. The volunteers are the first contact with victims or complainants and provide all the information to 9-1-1 operators to assist in a quick response to the incident.

The Police recognize that partnerships with the public, service groups and businesses are essential in order to encourage a safe and enjoyable community.

Visit Instructions:
To log a visit, you must post a photo of you in front of the building described, with your GPS in the photo. No drive by photos.

I have had NO problems with taking photos of Police stations but please respect the fact that some services may be nervous about having their photo taken and inquire as to why... I have found that once things are explained they are more than happy to let me photograph the building, crest, chief... (they are people too!)
