The Edmond YMCA's Adventure Garden is a wonderful program that teaches youth how to plant, grow, and harvest fruit and vegetables. The children are responsible for planting, watering, and maintaining the garden. Classroom instruction on healthy eating and growing vegetables is partnered with hands-on classes in the garden.
According to the website, the following are also involved in the community garden: The City of Edmond, Regional Food Bank's Urban Harvest Program, and Oklahoma State University - OKC Master Gardeners.
The fenced off garden has 13 beds, with handmade signs at the front of each to identify what the children are growing. The watering hose for use on the garden is located on the west side. The vegetable and fruit beds seem well manicured and in good shape.
Some of the colorful signs that the kids made by hand to label the beds say: Tomato, Peppers, Beans, and Eggplant.
