This property is significant ... for its association with Heber Scowcroft who was involved in business, religious, and political affairs in the community from his arrival to Ogden in 1880 to his death in 1922. His principal significant role was as vice president of John Scowcroft and Sons, a major wholesale dry goods company in the intermountain west. However, the property is significant primarily [for its architecture]. As one of few remaining Scowcroft family residences, the house and carriage house are very good local examples of the Neoclassical style and of the work of Moroni Charles Woods, a prominent local architect. It also provides a contrasting example to the contemporary Prairie style which was currently enjoying widespread popularity in many of Ogden's newest residential developments." - National Register Nomination
The building is in good condition and is now used as offices for a real estate company.
