This statue of Christopher Columbus is located in the traffic circle at the Coit Tower parking lot on Telegraph Hill in San Francisco, California. Columbus is facing west, gazing at the Golden Gate.
The statue was funded by Italy and City of San Francisco. It is mounted on a six sided pebble-aggregate concrete base surrounded by a planting garden and a ring of fourteen stones. One stone on the ring to the left of Columbus is from the dedication ceremonies and includes a message from Pope Pius XII reading:
