The lower Greenwich Stairway on Telegraph Hill in San Francisco runs from Sansome Street to Montgomery Street.
The Greenwich Stairway can be used to access Coit Tower on Telegraph Hill. A long, steep stairway of concrete steps begins, just off of Sansome Avenue. The first section of stairs are prefab concrete section stairs and, after 98 steps, comes to a large landing with a view across San Francisco Bay towards the Bay Bridge and Yerba Buena Island. The stairs continue upward, turning into a concrete stairway that climbs next to local residences, finally emerging onto Montgomery Street.
As you reach the top, turn right on Montgomery Street towards Julius Castle. Look for a brick wall which begins a long series of brick steps up to the Coit Tower parking lot on the Upper Greenwich Stairway.
Coordinates are at the bottom end of the stairway.
