This mural, titled The Spectacle, was commissioned by The Spectacles Shoppe and painted by artists Tom Warn and John Reipas in 1998. It was the center of controversy right away. The city of West St. Paul claimed it was an over sized advertisement and violated city laws. Several areas of the mural were painted over with tags saying "Censored by local Gov." in order to allow the mural to remain.
The mural itself depicts several eye and glasses related images such as a cat woman wearing glasses, a cyclops, alien eye ball creatures, a man wearing x-ray specs and several others.
