This memorial is dedicated to those servicemen who fought for their nation but never were able to come home. A plaque reads:

“Never Came Home. With reverence, humility, and enormous respect we honor our soldiers who have lost their lives abroad in the line of duty. Their courageous acts and personal sacrifice embody the meaning of valor. May this memorial stand as a continual reminder of our responsibility to those who served our nation so bravely and never came home. 2010.”

In front of the plaque are 15 concrete stars with the sixteenth missing in the middle. The missing star is explained in the rock engraving next to the plaque:

“The grid of stars is dedicated to all Americans who have served in the military. The missing star represents those who never came home. The poppies that surround the stars have become an American cultural symbol for military veterans and are dedicated to wartime remembrance.”

Description of Memorial:
This memorial is in the Veterans Park surrounded by many veteran memorials, gardens and fountains. I found it through another waymark in the area and would love to go back and spend more time there. It's a very impressive park.
