If it were not for the trees, it is claimed that you could see the Greenwich observatory from this site. The area that is in Epping forest, was I have been told a site for an anti aircraft gun site during WW2. Also very close a few yard east (If you can find them) are the foundations of a house that it is also claimed D H Lawrence lived in. (Was he the one that wrote Lady Chatterlys lover?)
