This is a nice memorial that was unveiled on 8th December 1920. The sculptor was Messrs Wright and Son (Bradford), and the statue is carved out of granite.
The soldier is wearing a cap, greatcoat and a large pack.
The monument is in the United Kingdom National Inventory of War Memorials under reference 28629 (

The memorial was subsequently amended to honour the men of Oakenshaw who died in the 2nd World War, and then later still for a death in Aden in 1967.
The inscription on the granite plinth reads

SACRIFICES RENDERED
BY THE MEN OF
OAKENSHAW-CUM-WOODLANDS
IN THE GREAT WAR

AND WAS UNVEILED ON
DECEMBER 18TH 1920

BROUGHT US PEACE"
