Historic hitching post from 1836 shaped like a horse still alive and kicking in the historic district. There a few just like this one up and down this part of King Highway.

Many of these Federal style homes have upping stones and/or hitching posts on the edge of the street. This one is right out in front of the house near the street. This post is about 4 or so feet high, black and the top shaped like a horse. The bottom part is a bit corroded. Overall, the several of these that still exist, contribute to the appeal, charm and authenticity of this historic district.
