The first of twin skyscrapers that was built as the Chicago Mercantile Exchange Center.

Some interesting, or not interesting facts.
  • Because of the imbalance created by the cantilevering, each floor of the tower was built 1/8 inch farther out up to the 21st floor, then the process was reversed as the building settled and straightened.
  • Sawtooth corners create 16 corner offices per floor. At the southwest corner this feature leaves room for a preexisting bridge tower.
  • The office tower is cantilevered 32 feet over the trading floor.
  • As the first phase of the two towers, 30 South Wacker was built with the adjoining Chicago Mercantile Exchange trading floor, and provides the entrance to this facility.
  • The building is a twin of 10 South Wacker, which was built later.
