US Highway 66, no longer a federal highway, has been immortalized in the Steinbeck novel "The Grapes of Wrath", a movie based on the novel, a song by Bobbie Troup, a TV series, a National Scenic Byway, and an intense overseas marketing effort to bring foreign tourists in droves to travel "The Mother Road" in caravans of large tour buses.
The longest remaining continuous segment of the old highway pavement runs from Topock to Seligman, Arizona. This portion of the old route lies in the western half of this stretch and extends from just west of Kingman into Topock
