This beech near Balatonhenye is the oldest tree of Kali Basin. It is located actually not in the basin, but at the wold which borders it and separates Balatonhenye from Kapolcs. Based on inspections this tree dates back between 1600 and 1650, and it is the only survivor of the forest-cutting long ago. This tree was left by the former owners of the forest as memory for the next generations. It stands lonely at the plateau, attracts the eye from afar in the middle of the field, at the path betweeen Balatonhenye and Kapolcs (yellow mark). This road can be used by car as well. But 2 years ago a short piece of the road was plowed, so the bicycles could only be pushed, so do not rely on approaching by car. It is rather a comfortable walk or bicycle trip either from Balatonhenye or from Kapolcs.
